New LEE building at ETH Zürich

The new LEE building at ETH Zürich has been constructed and certified in accordance with the Minergie ECO standard. The LED lighting system is an integral part of the energy-efficient building concept.

The architectural office of Fawad Kazi and the lighting designers at Reflexion AG worked together to create the concept for the lighting in the LEE building. The concept called for a cuboid lighting component in different sizes. The luminaire was developed by Kaspar Moos AG. When it came to selecting the light sources the luminaire designers opted for the TALEXXengine QLE LED modules from Tridonic and the matching LED Drivers.
 

A lighting component with a system aspect

A major benefit of the LED modules in this project was their system concept. Tridonic offers the appropriate LED Drivers and plug-in connectors for its LED engines, and the units with their 27 x 27 centimetre edge lengths can be easily joined together.

For the ten different luminaire sizes in the LEE building at ETH Zürich the boards were used either singly or in combinations of two to ten. They are supplied with power from one or at most two LED Drivers of type LCAI 350 mA I010 one4all which are integrated in the luminaires and which offer outputs of 50 W or 80 W and a DALI interface.
